Welcome to Mount Shasta High School, where Respect, Excellence, Integrity, and Responsibility are our guiding principles! Nestled at the foot of Mount Shasta, the parents, staff, and community members of our high school area work together to continue a strong tradition of academic excellence and individual growth of all students.
A small high school by many standards, Mt. Shasta continues to offer an extensive selection of Advanced Placement programs, making this one of the hallmarks of the school. A strong fine arts program that includes music, drama, and art sequences give students an opportunity to expand on their talents and continue it during their college careers. Career technical education pathways that include Manufacturing/Business, and Health Careers, take advantage of our community partners and the California Career Pathways Grant award of 6 million dollars for our local coalition. This grant allows us to offer leading edge technology learning opportunities including our new manufacturing lab.
In 2013, our district began a 1:1 technology initiative distributing chromebooks to all incoming freshmen. As of 2015 every student in the school is issued their own chromebook to use at school and at home for educational purposes. Many teachers use Haiku as a learning management system to create blended learning classrooms where students use online content as part of their coursework. Other courses take advantage of programs such as Math XL, ALEKS, Adobe Connect and other programs to enhance individual tutorials and support students in the regular classroom.
Our small campus lends itself to a student centered environment and contributes to the fact that half of our students are involved in extracurricular sports. A strong student leadership course and Associated Student Body assure that other extracurricular activities such as dances, holiday events, and the famous Bear Stop game night are regular events during the year.
We are proud of our level of parent involvement. The Mt. Shasta High School Parent Group, Boosters Club, and Mount Shasta Education Foundation all work in different ways to contribute to an enhanced learning environment for students. Parents help out with school and athletic activities, providing support and resources that benefit students.
Mt. Shasta’s mission is to ensure that all students graduate qualified for post-high school options including university enrollment, community college, career-technical enrollment, military service, or the job market, so that they have genuine choices after graduation. We work to create an inclusive culture in order to help our students value themselves as learners, become educated citizens, college and career ready, and acquire a global perspective as contributing participants in a rapidly changing world.
Stop by and see our beautiful campus; with Mt. Shasta as a backdrop we truly have a magnificent place to learn.
