I hope you are having a wonderful summer full of adventure, friends and family. It is my pleasure to welcome you to the 2018-2019 school year at Mount Shasta High School! I’m looking forward to a year strengthening of our community together.
Mount Shasta High School is a place for all of our students and families to learn and grow. The foundation for this is fostering strong relationships among out students, staff, parents and community members. In this pursuit, the theme at Mount Shasta High School this year is community. Throughout the year, we will be exploring ways to better understand the strengths and needs of all our students and work together to provide a world class education to all those who attend MSHS while honoring the diverse backgrounds of our families and supporting the unique social and emotional needs of each of our students.
As we start the school year there are a few important dates and exciting opportunities that I would like to make you aware of:
Monday August 20th: SUHSD Emotional Intelligence Workshop with Roni Habib
Roni Habib is the founder of EQ Schools, an organization dedicated to providing Emotional Intelligence training to teachers, students, and parents nationally and abroad. He teaches Positive Psychology at Gunn High School in Palo Alto and is the director of the MERIT Institute at Foothill College. Roni speaks and consults for schools and business organizations on the topics of Mindfulness, Creative Confidence, Emotional Intelligence, Positive Psychology, Design Thinking, and the importance of Play.
We are very fortunate and excited to have Roni leading a 1 day workshop for all district staff on August 20th from 9am to 3pm at Mount Shasta High School. I would like to invite any interested parents to attend this workshop as well. Space is limited. Please RSVP to firstname.lastname@example.org if you would like to attend.
This will be an important and inspirational event to kick off the school year.
